January Recap by Region

Rio Grande Valley

The Valley region always goes over and beyond to be the ‘People you Know’ in the community. Here are the month’s highlights:

  • Marta Rosales partnered with United Way of South Texas to bring tips on how to avoid identity theft to one of our communities, just in time for tax season.
  • Jamie Lynn Brown-Rosas was interviewed by KRGV-TV by the Take5 team. The Interview spotlighted The McAllen Education and the work it does to support educators through Innovative Teaching Grants.

Hill Country

In the Hill Country region, teamwork is constantly displayed, whether employees are volunteering or attending events together. Here are this month’s highlights:

  • Our Trust Division hosted an event, “Protecting Your Legacy,” which shared the importance of estate planning, writing a will, and avoiding common pitfalls that can create difficulty for loved ones.
  • Blythe Cox partnered with Das Nutrition to help raise funds for the Crisis Center of Comal County. She volunteered to be a smoothie bartender for a day.
  • TRB Sponsored the Smithson Valley High School All Sports Gala. The Gala helps raise funds for the Smithson Valley athletics department.

Houston

The Houston region is always looking for ways to better their community. Here are this month’s highlights:

  • Kim Perry joined a partnership that offers true value, experience, and heartfelt commitment to a cause that is meaningful. She will serve as a volunteer support for the St. Jude Walk/Run Team and serve as a School Youth Mentor. Her ongoing partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- ALSAC will lead to new volunteer opportunities and connections and directly impact ending childhood cancer.
  • Skip Colvin represented TRB at the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Dallas / Fort Worth

The DFW region knows that we are only as successful as our communities and strives to build up DFW constantly. Here are this month’s highlights:

  • TRB sponsored, and employees volunteered at The Denton Black Film Festival in the DFW region. The Denton Black Film Festival was created to address under-representation in film and media by giving Black stories an audience and Black creatives a platform.
  • United Way of Denton County hosted its annual UNITED Tribute Gala. The United Way of Denton County aims to help children and families succeed, to guide and serve Veterans and their families, to advocate for overall mental health, and to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring. TRB employees regularly volunteer at and sponsor United Way of Denton County events.

Last year, we volunteered over 6,000 hours! Let’s strive to volunteer even more in 2024 and reach an even bigger milestone in 2024.
