October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October 2, 2023

Through August, TRB has avoided $5,063,635 in fraud this year. We have successfully prevented fraud through our alert team members, advanced technology, and ongoing training.

As we observe Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let our success stopping fraudsters serve as a somber reminder that fraud is rampant. Continue to educate yourself and our customers about fraud risks.

Fraud Prevention Success Stories

Patti Lattanzi: Stopping Fraud Before It Happens

Patti Lattanzi’s keen eye and training to safeguard our customers’ interests paid off when she spotted a fraudulent check. Patti refused to cash it, saving money and protecting our customer’s trust in us. She didn’t stop there; after discovering the fraudsters, she immediately notified the Branch Admin and the Hill Country Region. Our other locations were well prepared when these scammers inevitably showed up to try to cash fake checks.

McAllen Branch: Breaking Up Fraud Rings

The McAllen branch deserves special recognition for its efforts in preventing fraud. When a scammer attempted to cash a fraudulent check, our team members saved the customer and the bank from potential losses and uncovered a fraud ring operating in McAllen. Like Patty in Bee Cave, Ashley Salazar & Sydnee Rivera in McAllen put the word out, preventing losses in our other banking centers.
