Our management team meets weekly to share information from the departments, divisions, and people that make up Texas Regional Bank. Below are a few of the highlights from our February meetings that you may find helpful:
Referral Tracking Tool Coming Soon
Brad Freudenberg, Chief Technology Officer, reported on the progress of a new referral tracking tool. A friction point for referrals is that they are challenging to track and manage. The tool will be a centralized place for referrals, easier reporting, and improved management by the referrer and business partner. The new referral tool should be available in the coming weeks.
ATM Upgrades
Chief Operating Officer Rene Avila reported that we upgraded the Mission & Weslaco ATMs in January. The bank plans to upgrade all ATMs to include deposit (check & cash) taking capabilities.
Diversity Forum in Dallas
Eduardo Caso, EVP of International Private Banking, discussed the expanding relationship with Latino Leaders Magazine (LLM). Headquartered in Dallas, the magazine has a circulation of over 250,000 in major markets across the US, like Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In February, LLM invited TRB to attend its Diversity Forum in Dallas. In addition, the magazine published an article on Michael Scaief in their December issue (link is safe; see page 11 for article).

Train the Trainer
Cambrea Merriwether, CHRO, reported on a new training initiative that will kick off in March. The program will take a “train the trainer” approach where we’ll have experts in each region that can conduct continuous training. The program kicks off with Banking Products. After a brief pilot in the Hill Country, the rest of the bank will adopt the program. More coming soon!
ATX Ribbon Cutting
Brent Baldree, President of Commercial Banking, reported on the ribbon cutting at TRB’s banking center in Austin. It was a great turnout with representatives from the RGV partnership and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Being so close to the state capitol, we had a few state senators attend!

Core Value: Community
Mr. Baldree reported that, in January, our employees spent over 400 hours volunteering in the community. With community being a core value, the bank closely monitors this metric closely; thank you to all that served!
Looking for a Few Good Agents
Ryan Newman, Insurance Division President, shared that insurance is experiencing strong growth fueled by bank referrals. Mr. Newman is looking to hire insurance agents in all our regions; if you know a good insurance agent who wants to work for an excellent company, refer them to Mr. Newman. <- it’s a perfect opportunity to cash in on the Employee Referral Program incentive!
