January News

February 6, 2024

Our management team meets weekly to share information from the departments, divisions, and people that make up Texas Regional Bank. Below are a few of the highlights from our January meetings that you may find helpful:

New Paid Time Off Policy

Cambrea Merriwether, Chief Human Resources Officer, announced that the new PTO policy launched in January. The new plan combines vacation, sick and personal time, which gives employees more flexibility throughout the year. Read the new policy.

Protecting Your Legacy

Ben Fedorko, Trust Division President, shared the success of an educational event the bank hosted in Fredericksburg.  The event, “Protecting Your Legacy,” shared the importance of estate planning, writing a will, and avoiding common pitfalls that can create difficulty for loved ones.  Because of the event’s success, plans are being made to host similar events throughout our regions.

Event panelists: Estate litigator Taylor Williams from Langley Banack with TRB’s JR Stewart and Ben Fedorko.

Fraud Prevention Continues

Rene Avila, Chief Operations Officer, emphasized the $6.8MM in fraud the bank avoided in 2023. The bank has advanced technology designed to detect fraud, but oftentimes, fraud is caught by our front-line staff, who notice an anomaly with customers they know. Continue to stay vigilant in 2024.

GoldStar Goes Live

Brad Freudenberg, Chief Technology Officer, talked about the launch of GoldStar employee portal.  The portal was introduced in January and will be the future hub for everything an employee needs to do their job. The portal offers a new and improved way to submit and track your referrals (and incentives).

Teamwork in Central Dallas Region

JJ Gomez, Central Dallas Regional President, shared that every banking center in his region is equipped with an oar. The oar is a symbol for JJ’s theme for 2024: We are all rowing together in the same direction; through Teamwork, we’ll serve the Community one relationship at a time.

New Banking Centers on the Horizon

Jason Leal, Chief Experience Officer, provided an update on the Rio Grande City banking center, which should open early this year. Further, Jason shared that the bank has 4 to 6 new locations planned in Dallas, Rosenberg, Boerne, and Kerrville.
